------------------------------------------------------------

4

Name: Shubham Agarwal
Batch: 2006-10

Branch: IT

Company in which you are placed: Accenture

Experiences at interview: My interview was based more on the projects which i had done. I had 1 complete project which I did for a health clinic(Windows Application in C#) and the other which was still under process was from Cap-Gemini(Windows Application in C#). Apart from projects they asked me some queries. The interview constituted some basic questions in testing too. If you could just impress them through your projects i think you've done 50% of your job.
Tips for Aptitude Tests: Well this is one field which everyone should focus on. This is because this will be your 1st step, every time you appear for campus. Revise all your 9th and 10th maths concepts. English is very important. It is asked in almost every exam. Sometimes the English is basic and sometimes it frustrates you a bit coz some questions go over your head. Dont panic. You should know what to attempt and what to leave. Some companies also ask Technical stuff. Again clear your basics and Yashwant Kanitkar is enough for C and C++. Sometimes OS and CN is also asked.

Tips for GD: Allow every one to speak. Never try to dominate your group. Never look in the eyes of the invigilator. Instead always look in the eyes of the person who is speaking at that time. Never try to note the expression of the invigilator. If he catches hold of you, then God Bless You. And one more thing, try to be aggressive in the way to make yourselves audible. Never try to show that you are fighting for your cause instead give a feeling as if you are presenting your views. Always keep the discussion healthy.

Tips for HR & Technical Interview: Technical interview ive told you earlier. As far as HR is concerned, just try to be what you are. Never try to exaggerate. This is because 99% times the person catches hold of you if you are trying to be someone else. Rest if you have done some extra curricular or co curricular activities in college it will show. And for those who are lazy, give the person a feeling that though u havent done anything you are always ready to do some good work if you are asked to. Communication skills is the most important thing. Try to improve your spoken english too. Dont get beaten by over confidence, instead win by showing confidence.
Any thing special to pay attention on:Attitude. Keep an attitude where the person feels, yes this is the write person for my company. And be confident in whatever you do. Remember wrong answers can put you behind, but confident wrong answers can also put in front of others.:)

Message to the juniors or others: Just try to grab the opportunity which comes your way. Try to take the advantage of your seniors(Which we didnt have much). Improve communication skills for HR, Technical skills for Technical Interview and you require confidence for each and every round. ALL THE BEST!!!

5
Name: Ravi Gupta

Branch: I.T.
Company in which you are placed: KPIT Cummins

Experiences at interview: cool

Tips for Aptitude Tests: Remember & Keep practising concepts. Book -R.S.Agarwal may be helpful.

Tips for GD: Involve in Discussion fully. Dont worry much about communication skills. They judge for 3 things : 1)Your Assertiveness. 2)Your Knowledge about what you are speaking. 3)How efficiently you deliver it.

Tips for Technical Interview: Make a trap for Interviewer and trammel him/her on your inexpugnable area.
Tips for HR Interview: Just be as you are! DO NOT try to fool interviewer in any case. Be true, even if u drink or smoke.

Any thing special to pay attention on: Industrial Projects which can be a trap for Interviewer.

Message to the juniors or others:
Aal izz Well !! Always Remember Whatever happens, Happens for Good. :)

Miscellaneous: Co-curricular Activities Helps a lot. All the best!!

Tips for GD:
Speek with confidence, only meaningful sentences.Dont show aggresiveness (It is never paid off!!!)

Tips for HR & Technical Interview:

Any thing special to pay attention on:
Communication skills and verbal aptitude.

Name:PARAS JANDWANI
Batch:2010
Branch:E&TC
Company in which you are placed: ACCENTURE

Experiences at interview: I faced interviews mainly of two companies.one is PERSISTENT and the other is ACCENTURE. Both of the technical interviews mainly focussed on my c/c++ basics. Also some of the questions were related to networking.Mainly interviewer asks about all the related things which you write in your resume like your projects, your technical skills etc.In the HR interview mainly patent questions were asked like "Define Yourself?" then "why you wanna join this company?" then about the parents details etc.

Tips for Aptitude Tests:This phase i suppose is the most important part.If this phase is cleared then 50% of your work is done.
For preparation you should have your funda cleared in Mathematics ,English and Reasoning part..
Tips for GD:At the time of GD my brother told me to remember only 3 things
1.Always try to start or Conclude the topic given.
2.Be a good listener and do not speak more than twice.

3.Give some Statistical data about the topic.
Tips for HR & Technical Interview:first of all.
1.sit straight and do not fold your hands

2. Try to be short and precise about the answers.

3.Try not to manipulate the answers.
Any thing special to pay attention on:YES...Very important part is your communication skills. This plays a very vital role in your selection process.

Message to the juniors or others: Just keep your percentage above the eligibility criteria. And rest of the things automatically gets handelled.

HR interview according to me was just formality just concentrate on Communication there and one can clear it easily.
Thanks to Principal Sir of my college for making us aware about many important things like VAP ,industrial Projects etc. It really helped.

Tips for Aptitude Tests: Be relax and calm while giving test while giving test. Do Previous Placement paper . its all you need to clear aptitude.

Tips for GD: Allow every one to speak. Never try to dominate your group. Never look in the eyes of the invigilator. Instead always look in the eyes of the person who is speaking at that time. Make sure that group reaches a conclusion.

Tips for HR & Technical Interview: For technical Industrial Projects help a lot and VAP help too.
Make a trap for Interviewer and trammel him/her on your inexpugnable area. For HR be true while speaking about yourself .Don't make grammer mistakes while speaking.
Any thing special to pay attention on: Industrial Projects and even good Lab innovations can help.

10

Name: Abhishek Kumar
Batch: 2006-2010
Branch: Information Technology
Company: Cognizant
Experiences at Interview:
It was a nice experience. Question asked were mainly about what I had written in my resume. Firstly I was asked to give my introduction and then technical questions mainly about software engineering and testing. Well that was one of my best performances because I was able to satisfy the interviewer with my answers.
Tips for aptitude Test:
It’s the easiest part but most important to clear. For Services company, if u are through Aptitude means 80% of job is done. For Product Company, its importance is about 50%. Mathematics is quite easy and R.S.Agarwal is enough, But English and Reasoning Paper varied from company to company so be good in both subject. R.S.Agarwal is OK for Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning .But also read any CAT Material book so that u should not leave any stone unturned. One more thing “TIME MANAGEMENT”. Attempt each section with equal weightage as many companies put cut-off and does not mention about it. See previous year papers as well because sometime question came as it is. At last be confident, calm and cool.
Tips for GD:
GD is mainly about three things 1.Speaking, 2.Listening, 3.Co-ordinating the discussion till a justified conclusion. So when u are in GD always try to speak when u feel u are confident and ur point is relevant. In my case when I everybody is talking in favour of the topic and I was not getting an opportunity to speak then I put some negative point and make the group feel my presence. If u are not speaking then try to be a good listener and always look in the eye’s of the speaker. If given an opportunity to conclude then try to conclude keeping every point being discussed in urs conclusion. And be confident because Nobody can give you wiser advice than yourself.
Tips for HR & Technical Interview:
For HR Interview try to speak truth as much as possible except about urs weakness. In case of unique question use your presence of mind instead of traditional answer. (As I was asked about what gift(Software) u will give to ur Girlfriend. My answer was “SLAM BOOK” and whole interview there after was based on “SLAM BOOK”).In case of Technical Interview, always clear ur basic because they will not ask u about any high funda but all the question asked is only about basic. Never mention any extra language known in the resume with which u are not comfortable. Be confident and think creatively because everybody gives the correct answer and only those are selected who are innovative (Told by my interviewer to me).
Anything special to pay attention on:
Aggregate Percentage, Confidence level and most importantly always be creative and innovative (logically).
Message to the juniors or others:
Concentrate on aggregate first and then on projects at 3rd year level (at least one). At last I want to say “If you train hard you'll not only be hard but you'll be hard to beat”. Best of luck.
Miscellaneous:
“Our greatest glory consists not of never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
All the best!!!

------------------------------------------------------------

11

Name: Abhishek Kumar
Batch:2010

Branch:Electonics & Telecommunication

Company in which you are placed: Accenture & Cognizant but opted for "Accenture"

Experiences at interview:It was an ausum experience. I had my first interview at Cognizant which was a combination of HR as well as Technical and after my intro. the interviewer directly shifted to Technical. He started with basics in Electronics. But all the questions were application based like Prove the ohms law with the help of a fan? After the electronics he kept on hitting on my 'C' Concepts. At last he asked me to write a code.It was nice.

Secondly just after two days i appeared for two interviews for Accenture as the result of Cognizant was awaited. There was a mam for my HR interview. She asked me about my likes , dislikes . She knew a lot about my hometown , so couple of questions on that. She asked me something about my extracurriculars where my wall-magazine work gave me a good support. She was very much impressed with my resume. In my techincal interview at Accenture I had my 40 minutes interview on a D-Flip Flop.

Tips for Aptitude Tests:It was my fourth company Cognizant and fifth was Accenture. Earlier three companies apptitude test i could not clear. I did not prepare any thing for aptitude but i learnt from my mistakes in first three aptitudes and finally i could clear my aptitude from my fourth company i.e. Cognizant onwards. So the most important is that stay calm and dont take it otherwise. Donot opt for attempting all the questions but what you attempt, you should be sure about that. With experience of my collegues I can say that see the paper pattern on internet before appearing for the test... Refer previous papers...Its gives you a level of confidance...

Tips for GD:I speak alot in GD's so my friends in my GD group asked me to speak less and give everybody a chance. But on the GD table it happened to be completely different. No body was giving me a chance. I could not speak even a single word for about first 90% of the time. But I was a good listener. I kept on giving different positive expressions on my face on others points. But finally in last few seconds i could get into and find space for myself and put forward a good point which was not yet been discussed. Actively participate in GD taking place in college,It gives you a good platform to polish your skills.......

There are few things tto be remembered in GD. They are as follows:
1>Never look at the person who is judging but keep your eyes on the person who is spesking and if you are on the chance then try addressing the group.
2>Never try to show your superiority in the group.
3>Everyone can not give a start or end because there are only two person required for trhe job. So try being a good listener also.
4>If someone is sharing is personal experience over the topic then donot try to humiliate him by saying that you are better than him.
5>Do not show finger to any one and be alert about your gesture.

Tips for HR & Technical Interview:In HR interview try to show something extra you have done apart from academics. Do not teel about your family background for show off unless you are asked to tell about your family. Do not give fake hobbies. In the technical interview do not add certificates in your folder for which your are not master. Try to take away the interviewer in your area of interst.

Any thing special to pay attention on:Try increase your periphery with centre tied strongly to your acdemics. Have good projects done...It may govern your complete Interview(70% chances).. Follow my collegues Tips those worth alot to me...

Message to the juniors or others:Score well to be in criteria.... Knowledge without exposure is of no use.....

Miscellaneous:All the Best... Be a part of "illuminati"....

"Talent can not be pushed..It can only be polished..."

All of you have Talents,Its the right time to start polishing it......

After coming into Engg....

"Na Padhte to kha te 100 tareh se kamakar... Wo bhi khoya hai ye Talim Pa kar..."

Name: Shankar Shivram
Batch: Bachelor of Engineering batch 2010
Branch: Electronics and Telecommunications.
Company (or Institute if pursuing Higher Studies): Persistent Systems.
Experiences at Interview:
The campus recruitment drive for Persistent Systems was held on 20,21,22 November 2009. The recruitment procedure comprised of

1) Aptitude test 2) Technical interview round 1 (3) Technical Interview 2 (4) H.R. Interview.

My experience at the interview was a very pleasant experience and major thanks to first interviewer. He made me very comfortable and I was made to believe that we were having a one to one discussion(As with friends). There after all the other interviews were cool because of the confidence booster of the first technical round.
Tips for aptitude Test: Please refer concepts of OOPS, Database ,networking, Operating System Embedded Systems and R.S. Agarwal. Shakuntala Devi is an addon .
PLEASE START Practicing from R.S. Agarwal atleast 6 months before placement season on a regular basis . Cracking the aptitude by seeing AGARWAL FOR 2 weeks is not enough.

Remember ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN A DAY , Neither was SIT!!!!!!
Tips for GD:N A.
Tips for HR & Technical Interview:
Be Clear about your concepts. In case of CS/IT guys/gals have a sound knowledge of the OOPS,OS,Database concepts. And Be ready to be able to code.
As in case of E and TC, I would recommend very strong networking and embedded system basics.
They look for the ability in the individual to be able to adapt and be ready to learn.
Anything special to pay attention on: PROJECTS, INTERNSHIPS ,PAPER PRESENTATION AND VALUE ADDITION PROGRAMS DEFINITELY HELPFUL………CHANGES THE COURSE OF THE INTERVIEW.
Message to the juniors or others:Always be positive and try to be in sync with the activities of growth in the college. Use the platform provided by the college to the maximum. Attend events and seminars organized …. They help a lot. And bLA Bla bla….

Keep a healthy balance between studies and masti….
May God bless .

Name :ROHAN PRABHAKAR ALAI

Batch :2006-2007

Branch :ITCompany Cognizant

Experiences at interview: The interview questions were based on project done as well as extra curricular activities done in college.

Tips for Aptitude Tests:Read R.S.Agrawal book and help each other during Aptitude Tests

Tips for HR & Technical Interview:look straight into eyes of examiner be cofidant and well prepared at least in any single domain.

Any thing special to pay attention on:dont lie be wat you are.....

Message to the juniors or others:best of luck

------------------------------------------------------------

15

Name: Bhavesh Singh

Batch: 2006-2010

Branch: Computer Engineering

Company in which you are placed: Persistent Systems Private Limited

Experiences at interview:There were two technical interviews and one HR interview. The first technical interview spanned about 1:45 hrs. He asked me questions only related to C/C++. I tried to bring him round to C# with no success. He "persisted" on C/C++ and went into great details of it. Small things we might not even bother about were asked, for example, copy constructor parameter passing methods, etc.The second tech interview spanned around half an hour. It included questions on DataBases, Computer Networks etc. He also asked me about the projects I had done which might be of interest to him.

Tips for Aptitude Tests:I hadn't prepared anything in particular.

Tips for GD:I did not have to face the GD.

Tips for HR & Technical Interview:Be confident! And be youself! Don't try to fake anything. If you are not sure about something, admit it and then answer the question.

Any thing special to pay attention to:Be sincere before the interviewer and don't be afraid! Be confident.

Message to the juniors or others:Don't be afraid! Make sure you have mastered atleast 1-2 core subjects in your branch. This might be asked and your interview might be taken on subject in depth.A good grasp of programming concepts is a must for Comp/IT students.

Miscellaneous:Try to do all your practicals yourself. This would boost your confidence and pay off during your placements and later in the industry. Try to refer to the so-called "Reference Books" for atleast the subjects you find interesting. This would give you an in-depth knowledge and boost your confidence. You will actually enjoy reading those books if you like the subject. People have written delightful books on various subjects. Pick one and study it! It surely helps.

I have given interviews for Persistent, Cognizant and Accenture.

Persistent was more of technical. There were two technical interviews that I gave there. The first technical was about an hour. The second was about half an hour. The main focus was C, C++, Operating systems, data structures, database etc. One had to know the concepts thoroughly .If you say that you know something you must know it’s in and outs very well.

I had to even write some parts of code and there my concepts were checked.

At least you must have a brief idea about all that you have covered in your syllabus till date because they may say that “it was in your syllabus, you ought to know it”. But this situation occurs at times.

For Cognizant, there was one interview which consisted of GD+ HR. The interview was directed mainly on the basis of the application form that we had filled at the time of aptitude test. So whatever skills (technical + qualities) that I listed on it were tested. I had also mentioned the projects that were done and the current BE project. It was a good interview.

For Accenture, there were 4 rounds -aptitude test, GD , technical interview, and HR . The GD was good. The main thing that you need to portray in a GD is your language and your knowledge. The technical round was also based on the resume. And the HR round consisted of questions like tell me about yourself, your family, etc.

Tips for aptitude Test: Honestly speaking I did not prepare much for it. RS aggarwal both quantitative and verbal reasoning should be prepared. And try to solve maximum questions coz time will always be a factor you will later grumble about.

Tips for GD: Don’t’ be aggressive, put your points wisely, and it’s not necessary to talk much. But whatever you say should have some weight. If someone opposes you, defend yourself smartly. And a must is talk grammatically correct English.

Tips for HR & Technical Interview: Be cool. Brush up all your concepts thoroughly and be confident and answer. Given a choice to answer “What do you know?” Go for it and introduce about the things you know perfect. In case you don’t know, say that even diplomatically.

Anything special to pay attention on: Don’t lose your confidence and be true.
Message to the juniors or others: When it is your day , by hook or by crook , things will work with you and you will get what you deserve.
Miscellaneous: Enjoy college life……and learn with your companions. ..there is a lot to learn and live in these 4 years and later in life.
Anything to share with the SITians: Knowledge is a process of piling up facts; wisdom lies in their simplification.
